About Me

Hi there! I’m Caitlin Schwanger, and I’m learning how to make a home. I am learning so much about being a better wife, mother, and homemaker, that I wanted to share with you. You’ll find that my focus is family, but I have a broad range of interests (including education, homesteading, nutrition, and needlecrafts) and I want to share about those things occasionally, too.

Curious by Nature is a real blog. I will share with you ideals and suggestions to achieve those, but I’ll be sharing very real moments of my life with you. You won’t find many Pinterest-perfect photos here. Instead, you’ll see a lived-in home and a baby and a toddler still in their pajamas at 3 o’clock in the afternoon.

I typically post once or twice a week, but you can also get updates from me on Facebook, and Pinterest. Be sure to subscribe to my email list so you never miss a post!

If you are new here, be sure to check out my Welcome post and find out why I decided to name my blog From the Hearth.

About Me

I grew up as the fourth of six children. I love my big family, and I’m so happy to have started my own. Dustin and I have been married for almost five years, and we have a two-and-a-half-year-old son named James and a three-month-old daughter, Clara. Having kids has really opened my eyes to how much I don’t know and how much there is to learn.

I graduated from Brigham Young University a little over two years ago. I studied English linguistics (a fancy name for things like grammar and etymology) and editing. While there, Dustin and I worked for a student publication, Stance for the Family, and started its national award–winning magazine by the same name. It was a difficult, but rewarding project. Working for Stance gave me a platform to express my deep feelings about the family and its importance.

Since graduating, I have continued to learn more about topics such as positive parenting; Montessori education; whole-foods, plant-based nutrition; and more. I consider myself a “kinda-crunchy mama.” I also work hard to learn more about marriage and strengthening relationships. I am a Latter-day Saint (Mormon),* and I believe that my family will be together forever, so I want to make it the best it can be. I so happy to be able to share my progress here, and I hope it might help or encourage you, too.

*While this isn't a religious blog, I do share glimpses into my religion since it's a major part of my life. Regardless of your religion, I hope you will find truth here.
